先日のブログで紹介したように、5月にディナジプールへ出張した。今年4月から始まった先住民サンタルの就学支援教室の様子を写真に撮ってきたので紹介したい。
As I wrote on the previous blog, I went to Dinajpur, a northwest part of Bangladesh. Santal educational development project, implemented by GBK (Gram Bikash Kendara) has recently started in this area.
就学支援学級は全部で10ヶ所。どの学級も地域の協力を得て、空いている土地や軒先を借りて実施しているので、教室の様子は様々だ。ここは屋根がトタン、壁や柱は竹でできている。
There are 10 education centers near Dinajpur city. The land for the centers are provided by the community itself. So structures may vary place to place. This center has tin plate for its roof, and bamboo wall.
子どもたちは壁に沿って座って勉強する。 Children are sitting along with wall.
先生は子どもたちと同じ地域に住むサンタルの女性。10代後半から20代が中心で、学生で自らも勉強中という人もいる。
All teachers are female and from the same community. They are in late teens and twenties. Some of them are students themself.
ベンガル語を母語としないサンタルの子どもたちが、小学校に入った時に先生の言葉が判らず勉強に苦労したりしないようベンガル語に親しみながら、同時にサンタルの言葉や歌、踊りについても教わって、自らがサンタルであるということを誇りに思えるようにと実施されている。
The center is to teach basic Bangla/English/Math in friendly environment for Santal children who often have difficulties when they enroll to the primary school where Bengla is only language used. And at the same time, children are taught Santal poem, songs and dance which is very important part of Santal community.
